Homemade Almond Milk

Almond milk is a fabulous alternative for all those who are sensitive to dairy milk as well as for vegans and rawtarians. Benefits of drinking almond milk are many, but the store-bought kinds can contain questionable additives and chemicals.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 4 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 5 dates (optional)

Directions

  1. Soak the almonds in a bowl of water overnight or for at least 8 hours
  2. Pour out the water and rinse the almonds
  3. Soak the dates in water for about 20 minutes and then cut into smaller pieces
  4. Place the almonds in a blender with 4 1/2 cups of water
  5. Add the vanilla extract and dates (optional)
  6. Blend until smooth or until there are no more large almond pieces
  7. Strain the almond milk through a strainer or a sieve in a large container
  8. Store in the refrigerator and use within a week
