Spring is around the corner but we still have a couple of winter months ahead of us and the cold weeks seem to drag on.  Comfort food is a necessity and exercise is next to impossible. Winter always seem detrimental to the waists of dieters everywhere, but we’ve found a few good soups that will help keep you feeling full and satisfied. They are yummy, nutritious and most importantly, each serving is under 100 calories. You’ll be ready for the bathing suit season by incorporating these soups into your weekly diet.

1. Egg Drop Soup

You might typically think of Asian buffets when you think of egg drop soup, but this low-cal, low-fat and low-carb soup is easy to make at home. All it takes is a handful of ingredients, and in about twenty minutes (including prep time) you have a tasty, healthy soup.

2.Cabbage Soup

Ahhh, cabbage soup – the soup of dieters everywhere. Your first thought of cabbage soup might be a negative one, but there’s a reason why major diets are based around it – it’s about as low-cal as you can get. Any quick search online will lead to several recipes. If those recipes seem bland or boring, just add some cayenne pepper or jalapeños to make it more flavorful.

3.Creamy Asparagus Soup

This creamy green soup is full of vitamins and minerals and, as an added benefit, it actually tastes good to most people. Even for those who don’t like cooked asparagus, you are sure to like this soup. Substitute the heavy cream with non-fat Greek yogurt for even less calories.

4.Onion Soup

French Onion soup with its delicious thick piece of bread and melted, gooey provolone cheese is quite tasty, but unfortunately, it’s also loaded with calories and carbs. Now, take away the bread and melted provolone cheese, and it’s actually downright healthy. An added benefit: quercetin, a compound in onions has been proved to play a role in preventing cancer.

5. Zucchini Soup

With just five ingredients, this soup is a breeze to make. After your broth is boiling, just add zucchini, onion, garlic and a tiny bit of olive. Let it simmer for 20 minutes. Put it through a blender, and voila – a healthy, low-cal soup.

6. Creamy Broccoli Soup

Everyone knows that broccoli is a super food, with all of its essential nutrients and antioxidants, but there are not a lot of people who look forward to eating it. This soup will have a variety of flavors and adding potato puree will make your soup thicker and creamier without adding a high calorie heavy cream.

7.Chicken and Rice Soup

A flavorful soup that can be an appetizer or your main meal, made with fresh zucchini, chicken breast and rice Add some chicken broth and onion and spice it up a bit with cilantro and pepper, if you want.
