You probably didn’t now that there’s a myriad of completely natural, chemical-free and healthy ways to color your Easter eggs. It makes sense if you think about it, what did people color their Easter eggs with before they could simply go to the store and get a kit?

The procedure we’ll cover today is probably thousands of years old. In the Balkans, this type of coloring your Easter eggs produces what people in the region call “Jewish eggs.”

All that you’ll need is onion peels, a bit of oil, peppercorns and come vinegar.

Let’s check it out:

  1. 1. In a large pot, bring to boil a bunch of water and a bunch of onion peels to boil.
  2. 2. Add about a big spoonful of vinegar, about 20 peppercorns.
  3. 3. Slowly add your eggs and boil for at least half an hour. The longer you boil your eggs, the richer the red color of the eggs will be.
